A stunning array of precious national treasure
Konda Hachimangu Shrine
The people of the Kawachi area have faithfully followed Emperor Ojin, Emperor Chuai, and Empress Jingu as enshrined deities for ages. These deities are revered for easy childbirth and to protect against misfortune, with Emperor Ojin also worshipped as a deity of commerce, industry, and of the study of fine arts at Hachimangu. A number of national treasures and important cultural properties are held in the vault, including a portable shrine said to be a contribution by historical leader Minamoto no Yoritomo. Visitors can view Ojin-tenno-ryo Kofun from in front of Hojobashi on the shrine grounds, and every September 15th is the "Owatari" ceremony wherein a portable shrine is brought to the tomb.
