The alluring world of fine cotton
Watayumi Mound (Watayumizuka)

A stone monument inscribed with a poem composed by famous Japanese poet, Matsuo Basho, over a stay at the site. A "watayumi" is a tool used in the production of cotton, recalling times when the cultivation of cotton was popular. There is also a rest area displaying materials pertaining to Matsuo Basho.
