Relive the Asuka Period (592-710 C.E.)
Yachuji Temple

Said to have been constructed by Soga no Umako by order of historical leader Shotoku Taishi, this temple is also known as Naka no Taishi. The temple grounds are a nationally designated historic landmark, and visitors will experience ambience of the Asuka period as they pass through the restored central gate to the main hall and tower remains. The Hakuho-era Miroku-bosatsu (Maitreya) in a meditative pose and the Heian-era standing Jizo-bosatsu (Ksitigarbha) statues are designated as important cultural assets and can be viewed on the 18th of each month (fee required).
